I cannot go to school
today
I’m far too sick so
stay away
I cannot even go and
play
Don’t make me go to
school
I can’t get out of my
own bed
My head feels like
it’s stuffed with lead
The thermometer is
turning red
Don’t make me go to
school
My nose drips like a
waterfall
I cannot stop it, not
at all
The tissue pile is ten
feet tall
Don’t make me go to
school
My stomach hurts
My joints ache
My throat, it burns
Like Mom’s last cake
My temperature is 103
I’m turning green as
you can see
Something’s swelling
on my knee
Don’t make me go to
school
What’s that you say?
It’s Saturday!?
Bye now, I’m going out
to play.

Julia's Language Arts class has a contest to see who can write the best poem in one night. Julia came home and wrote this in just a few minutes. She takes after her Grandma Mortenson when it comes to writing.
Nice rhyming!
