What is the old saying? "If you wait five minutes, the weather will changes." Well here in good old Casper, today we went from a beautiful sunny morning to a torrential downpour this evening (about 1.5 inches) in an hour, lightning included. One thing is for sure, all of this rain has been good for the wildflowers. The picture you see is one taken of Julia and Tyler this morning up near the base of Casper Mountain.
The hills are alive with color. Many of the varieties I have never seen before. According to the natives, this spring has been cooler and wetter than normal. It shows, the North Platte River just a half a mile from our new home is running at the highest we have seen it all year(around 5000 cubic feet per second).
Wildlife is abundant here. Mule deer, Whitetail, and Antelope can be seen roaming even in our neighborhood. Several weeks ago, Tyler and I were on our way home from a stake father and son outing, when we counted 328 antelope in a 45 miles stretch of freeway driving. It's great. If you get the chance, come and visit us. There are so many places to see and explore. Y'all come see us when ya can!

ReplyDeleteI love all the wild flowers. We've also had a cool wet June! In fact, grrrrrrr, tonight Travis and I covered all the plants in the garden in case the predicted 34 degree low actually brings on frost.
